Lady Chiefs drop nail-biter to Tina-Avalon
On Tuesday,†Nov. 28, the Santa Fe High School lady Chiefs basketball team traveled to Tina-Avalon High School for a matchup with the Lady Dragons. A tough game gave way to a tough result for the Chiefs, as they wound up dropping the game 41-39.
The Chiefs had trouble scoring in this affair, as only sophomore guard Carrigan Smith cracked double-digit scoring. Santa Fe was hurt by free-throw shooting as well, as the ladies only cashed in on five of their 12 free-throw attempts.
Although up by six points at halftime and four points entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Dragons poured it on in the final frame, collecting 13 of Samantha Rounklesí 19 points en-route to a 17-point quarter for TAHS.
The loss drops the Chiefs, who are yet to play a conference game, to 1-1 on the year. The win moves the Lady Dragons to 1-1.
