Trails Regional Library to host open house
The Concordia Branch of Trails Regional Library will be hosting a pair of special events during the month of January. According to branch manager Debra Kirchhoff, it should be a very exciting month.
“At long last, we are ready for an open house in the newly renovated library building,” she said. “The open house will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11. Kirchhoff said there have been a lot of loose ends to be taken care of before holding an official open house for the public. New furnishings, wall decor, re-doing the window tinting, and other details had to be completed.
She said tours we be given for visitors to see all of the changes that have taken place at the library, and that refreshments will be available during the event, as well.
“Kris Foster of Above All Catering has graciously offered to donate the refreshments for the open house,” she said. “I am excited to sample the cookies and hot cocoa bar she is providing for us. We will stay open a little later that evening for more people to have a chance to drop by.”
January is also National Soup Month. The library will be combining a celebration of soup with another milestone the week after the open house.
“The Monday following the open house, Jan. 15, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day,” Kirchhoff said. “We decided that would be a good day to host our annual ‘Celebrate Soup!’ lunch. Many people are taking the opportunity to serve others in some way to honor the legacy of Dr. King, and we would like to serve soup to the community to show our appreciation to those who have been so supportive while we have been renovating.”
