Mountain men and women converge on Concordia Community Center for trade fair

Wednesday, March 7, 2018
Re-enactors and vendors filled the Concordia Community Center on Saturday, March 3 as part of the annual Blackwater Buckskinners Trade Fair. Mountain Man Lance Grabowski, of Chugwater, Wyo., displayed a coat made of brain-tanned elk. Grabowski said he has been “making a living” as a mountain man for 51 years. He has modeled for magazines, made authentic items for movies, was featured in National Geographic Magazine, and was the first mountain man employed by the National Park Service. He said the elk skin coat he was holding is worth about $4,000 and took him hundreds of hours to complete.
