Alleen E. Grefe, 84, of Concordia, Missouri, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Good Shepherd Community Care Center in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Concordia with Pastor Michael Pottschmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Pallbearers are John Hinck, Neal Brunkhorst, Norman Brunkhorst, Mark Gieselman, David Gieselman and Paul Hink. Born May 13, 1933, in rural Concordia, she was the daughter of the late Walter Brunkhorst and Elizabeth Limback Brunkhorst. Alleen lived in the Concordia area most of her life and was a 1952 graduate of Concordia High School. On Nov. 7, 1953, she married Vernon E. Grefe, who survives of the home. Alleen worked as a seamstress at Unitog, as well as being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church.
In addition to her husband, Vernon, she is survived by two daughters, Glenda Fuchs and husband Roger of Concordia, and Wanda Thornton and husband Stanley of rural Sweet Springs; four grandchildren: Brett Fuchs and wife Gina, Blaine Thornton and wife Tiffany, Meridith Haley and husband Jeremy, and Rachel Hudson and husband Christopher; five great-grandchildren: Ashlee and Lola Fuchs, Charlot and Conrad Thornton, and Kaiden Haley; two brothers-in-law, Roger Hink and Nathan Gieselman; one sister-in-law, Ramona Brunkhorst; as well as nieces and nephews.
Alleen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Verdus Brunkhorst; and three sisters: Ruth Hink, Laverne Gieselman and Velma K. Hinck.
