As Memorial Day approaches each year, area residents expect to hear the rumble of motorcycle engines as a parade of bikes comes rolling through Concordia on its way to Concordia Park. The event is a lunch break for the participants in the Central Route of the annual Run For The Wall, which starts in Ontario, Calif., on May 16 and arrives in Washington, D.C., on May 25.
This is the 30th anniversary of the ride. The mission of Run For The Wall is to promote healing among all veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all prisoners of war and those missing in action, and to honor the memories of those killed in action.
This year’s lunch break in Concordia will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21. Run for The Wall Concordia is planning to serve 700 people.
For additional information, or to make a donation for the lunch stop, please contact local RTFW coordinator Lori Wilson at 816-716-5487, or Mary Claborn at 660-383-2331.
