Leona M. Brandt, 81, of rural Concordia, Missouri, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Rev. Michael Pottschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Burial will be in St. Peterís Lutheran Cemetery in the Flora community. Pallbearers will be Darryl Ehlers, Jeremiah Ehlers, Nathaniel Brandt, Joshua MacGregor, Chris Bargfrede and Larry Bargfrede. Honorary pallbearer is Hayden Brandt. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Care Community or Extended Care Program at St. Paulís Grade School. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born April 29, 1937, in Alma, Leona was the daughter of the late Leonard Bargfrede and Agnes Strathman Bargfrede. On March 17, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, she married Ledrue J. Brandt, who survives of the home. She lived in Lafayette County her entire life, was a homemaker and a great help to Ledrue on the family farm. She was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aide No. 4, German Choir, Older Adults Committee and Senior Choir. She was a member and treasurer for American Legion and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband Ledrue; four children, Pamela Ehlers of Sedalia, Gordon Brandt and wife Angela of Warrensburg, Cynthia MacGregor and husband David of Ozark, and Ivan Brandt and wife Kathy of Washington, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Darryl Ehlers (Cheryl), Carmen Jackson (James), Jeremiah Ehlers (Kelsey), Niccole Evans (Harold), Miranda Susie (Joshua), Brittany White (Chris), Jennifer Fite (Jeremy), Nathaniel Brandt, Brandi Farris (Ben), Joshua MacGregor, Jacob Brandt and Hayden Brandt; one step-grandson, Adam Cole; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Bargfrede of Alma; one sister, Edna Carter of Sand Springs, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by three brothers, Harlan, Ernest and Johann Bargfrede.
