I-70 Conference Senior All-Stars lose close one against Kaysinger Conference all-stars

The 1-70 Conference Senior All-Star baseball team met the Kaysinger Conference Senior All-Stars for a match-up on June 1. The I-70 team included (front row, from left): Jake Carmack-Lone Jack, Cam Cooper-Concordia, Bret Green-Sweet Springs, Bret Kibler-Lone Jack, Dylan Frazee-Wellington, Matt Peters-Santa Fe; (back row, from left) Coach Nate Beissenherz-Concordia, Laine Hurley-Crest Ridge, Zack Giffen-Sweet Springs, Kellen McKinney-Lone Jack, Trey Rasik-Lone Jack, Micah Gerdts-Saint Paulís, Blake Schreiman-Santa Fe, Abram Frerking-Concordia, Coach Dustin Darby-Lone Jack, and Coach Ryan Burton-Wellington.

The annual I-70 Conference vs. Kaysinger Conference Senior All-Star Game was held in Cole Camp on Friday, June 1. Concordia High School (Cameron Cooper and Abram Frerking) Santa Fe (Matt Peters and Blake Schreiman) and Sweet Springs High School (Bret Green and Zack Giffen) sent two representatives each, while Saint Paul Lutheran High School sent one (Micah Gerdts) and Concordia sent two and a coach (Abram Frerking and Cameron Cooper, along with coach Nate Beissenherz).
The Kaysinger Conference pulled out a 7-6 victory. It was a rare loss for the home-grown I-70 players, who lead the series 9-4 since 2005. There were also two rainouts, according to Beissenherz.
Notable performers included Cooper (1-3 with a stolen base and run), Frerking (1-3), Giffen (1-2 with a walk and RBI, in addition to two innings pitched, three earned runs allowed, two walks, two hits allowed, and a strike out), and Green (1-2, RBI and run).
