An Odessa man lost his life after two big rigs crashed on Interstate 70 in Lafayette County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, when a 2011 Mack truck struck the rear of a 2016 Kenworth. The Mack — driven by David A. Seward, 47, of Odessa — was totaled, according to the report, and Seward was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead approximately an hour later, and his next of kin has been notified.

There were no reported injuries to the driver of the second truck, according to the report.

The trucks were traveling in the westbound lanes at the 31.2-mile marker when the crash occurred. This was the 27th fatal crash worked by MSHP Troop A this year. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, Sni Valley EMS, and Odessa, Bates City and Oak Grove police departments assisted at the scene.
