Board of Aldermen approves requests for use of city facilities
At the July 2 Concordia Board of Aldermen meeting, the board heard several requests for use of city facilities.
The Concordia Fair Board had informally requested board permission to use the north portion of Central Park and portions of some city streets for the Concordia Fall Festival. The use would include setting up booths and renting booth space. A representative of the fair board was scheduled to appear before the aldermen to make the request, but failed to show up at the meeting. City Administrator Dale Klussman would like to see the request become a standard annual request.
The board voted unanimously to grant permission to the Concordia Fair Board to use the north portion of Central Park and portions of some city streets for the Concordia Fall Festival, contingent upon official request and proof of sufficient insurance.
The board discussed consideration of a request for reimbursement by Roger Driver for use of the community center because the air conditioning system stopped working at the event. The board voted unanimously to approve a partial refund of $200 to Driver for the rent of the community center due to the air conditioning going out.
The board considered of request by Concordia Main Street Inc. for use of Central Park for the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas tree on Saturday, Nov. 24. The board voted unanimously to allow Concordia Main Street to use the park on the prescribed date for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting, contingent upon a backup plan of having the animals used during the event on the street if the ground is wet.
The board also took into consideration a request for a variance for CFM for operating an ATV on Old Highway 40, as well as a sundown variance for snow removal. The board voted unanimously to grant the variance.
