Edna Eckhoff Becker Smith
Edna Eckhoff Becker Smith, 97, of Concordia, formerly of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia with the Rev. Dr. Alan Gatewood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pallbearers are Landon Todd, Craig Dotson, Jim Metcalf, Neal Becker, Marvin Buesing and Kevin Schnakenberg. Born March 22, 1921, in Knob Noster, she was the daughter of the late Christoph F. Eckhoff and Anna Kleffman Eckhoff. On July 4, 1940, she married Carl W. Becker, who preceded her in death on August 12, 1980. On Sept. 15, 1984, she married Richard Smith, who preceded her in death on April 23, 2005. Edna lived on farms in the Knob Noster area most of her life, where she was a homemaker, and moved to Warrensburg in 2004. She was a longtime member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty A. Schnakenberg of Concordia, and Karen S. Dotson and husband Robert of Concordia; a daughter-in-law, Hazel Lueck of Alma; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Edna was preceded in death by one son, Roger A. Becker; a son-in-law, Wilbert L. Schnakenberg; two brothers, Willie “Bill” and Ervin Eckhoff; as well as five sisters: Frieda Oetting, Ida Schweer, Marie Schubert, Sophie Droege and Anna Dierking.
