Herbert W. Ohrenberg
Herbert W. Ohrenberg, 88, of Sweet Springs, went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with Beth Vonderahe officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery near Emma. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Sharon Ohrenberg-Kester, Kyle Ohrenberg, Matthew Ohrenberg, Maegan Santos, Jhan Ohrenberg and Samuel Ohrenberg. Honorary pallbearers are Emily Roettgen, Amy McCanne, Stephen Slawinski, Sarah Minnix and Jennifer Slawinski. He was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Concordia, to the late Alwin and Anna Buesing Ohrenberg. He attended Sweet Springs R-7 School and graduated in 1948. After high school, he served his country as a field radio repairman in the United State Army during the Korean War.
On Oct. 15, 1955, he married Rosemary Nelle Klein, who preceded him in death. Herbert worked locally at the International Shoe factory, then as an auto body repairman at Turner Motor Company, then headed toward the city. He worked at Adamís Dairy before being hired on at the General Motors Leeds plant in Kansas City, where he stayed until retirement. After retirement from GM, you could see him at the post office, where he had the maintenance and cleaning contract for almost twenty years. His lifetime hobbies included genealogy research and home repairs and gardening.
He is survived by one daughter, Beth D. Vonderahe and husband Chris of Pilot Grove; one son, Robert W. Ohrenberg and wife Annette of Springfield, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Sharon Ohrenberg-Kester, Kyle Ohrenberg, Matthew Ohrenberg, Maegan Santos, Amy McCanne, Emily Roettgen, Jennifer Slawinski, Jhan Ohrenberg, Stephen Slawinski, Sarah Minnix and Samuel Ohrenberg; eleven great-grandchildren, Shelby Ohrenberg, Morgan Browning, Keegan Browning, Kyra Santos, Lilly Santos, Luke Turner, Connor Tidmore, Mallory Ohrenberg, Jackson Santos, Seth Ohrenberg and Casey McCanne; a soon to arrive great great-grandson Lincoln Ranberger; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Herbert was preceded in death by five siblings, Leonard Ohrenberg in infancy, Delmer Ohrenberg, Dorothy Mae Buesing, Alvin Ohrenberg and Roland Ohrenberg.
