Eva Jean Hopkins
Eva Jean Hopkins, 92, of Higginsville, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
Graveside services will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. The pallbearers are Kyle Gieselman, Ben Weller, Ross Weller, Jeremy Stephens, Quin Dinovi and Cole Wodrich. Born July 27, 1926, in Good Hope, Ill., she was the daughter of the late John Faul and Effie Leona Markham Faul. Jean was a graduate of LaHarpe High School in LaHarpe, Ill., where she met her high school sweetheart, William W. “Bill” Hopkins. Jean and Bill were married on June 29, 1947, and lived in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, and then semi-retired to Overland Park, Kan. Bill preceded Jean in death on Jan. 2, 2004. She was a homemaker much of her life and moved to John Knox Village in Higginsville in 2013.
Survivors include two daughters, Wendy Gieselman and husband David of Corder, and Beth Weller and husband Gary of Chesterfield; seven grandchildren, Heather Stephens and husband Jeremy, Kyle Gieselman, Lauren Weller, Chelsea DiNovi and husband Quin, Ben Weller, Callie Wodrich and husband Cole, and Ross Weller; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
