Lutheran (Kansas City) 1
Two one-goal losses — including in the district tournament — to the Lutheran (Kansas City) High School Knights were still fresh in many Saint Paul Lutheran High School Saints’ fans’ minds, but the Saints were able to erase that memory with a 4-1 victory over the familiar foe.
Juniors Hellebust, Simon Kifle, Austenaa, and senior Ammi Phillipos each tallied a goal, with Kifle also tallied an assist.
Freshman keeper Rankin only had three save opportunities, of which he stopped two.
The Saints moved to 8-3 with the victory.
Thursday, Sept. 27
Saint Paul 2
A goal in each half was plenty for the Saint Paul Lutheran High School Saints, who moved past the Chillicothe High School Hornets, 2-0.
Hellebust stayed sizzling, as the junior converted on another goal. He also put three of his four shots on target. Andrew Kueck also chipped in a goal — proving to be the insurance goal off the boot of the freshman.
The Hornets had opportunities, but freshman Rankin shut thoughts of scoring down, stopping all seven shots on goal.
With the victory, the Saints advanced to 9-3.
