Warner Henry Schelp, 84, of Higginsville, died Oct. 15, 2018, at Meyer Care Center.

Memorial services were held Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville, officiated by Pastor Dr. Tommy Faris. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service, at the church. His ashes will be buried at the Salem Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Higginsville Senior Center or the Salem Cemetery. Warner was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Emma, to Edward and Lena (Lange) Schelp. He married Delome Rinne on Dec. 11, 1976, in Higginsville. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2006. Warner worked around Lafayette County throughout his life, including at the Emma Creamery, the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home, McDonald’s and the Higginsville Habilitation Center.

Survivors include his companion, Rita Vahrenberg, of the home; two brothers, Edgar Schclp of Lee’s Summit and Harold (Zola) Schelp of Olathe, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Martha Schelp of Irving, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Armond, Alfred, Vernon and Elmer; and four sisters, Melba Hughes, Arlene Neely, Marie Lynn and Esther Ott.
