Saint Paul Lutheran High School senior Karson Troth was named to the Class 2 all-state volleyball team.
Varsity volleyball coach Tom Lange said the recognition is well-deserved.
“Karson was our go-to hitter all year,” he said. “She carried a big load for us offensively. She got set in situations when a middle hitter usually doesn’t, which hurt her kill percentage, but is a credit to her because her teammates had confidence she would get the job done.  She stepped into a setter role for us this year with a lot of natural talent, but very little experience. She worked hard and improved steadily, which was a big reason we were able to become district 15 champs and advance to the class 2 sectional finals.”
Lange noted Troth’s leadership style was a plus for the entire team.
“Her teammates also looked to her as a leader because of her big personality,” Lange said. “She did a great job keeping things fun.”
The sectional was hosted by Cole Camp. Saint Paul defeated Lawson 2-0 in the semi-finals and lost to St. Michael the Archangel by a score of l 2-0 in the finals.
Stats for Karson Troth:

—2nd on team with 54 aces.

Also nominated for the all-state honors was Saints’ senior Lynda Bennett.
Coach Lange said Bennett brought a lot of life to the team.
“Lynda made more ‘wow’ plays, like diving for the ball, than anyone else on the team,” he said. “She was our most consistent server and serve receiver, and she had the best kill percentage for the Saints. Younger players admired her encouraging attitude and work ethic. We’ll miss her skill and leadership next year.”
Stats for Lynda Bennett:
—1st on the team in serve receptions with 479.
—1st on the team in serve reception percentage — 94 percent.
