Kurt Edward Wilkens
Kurt Edward Wilkens, of Concordia, passed Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, after a battle with brain cancer.
At Kurt’s request, a private family service will be held in the spring. Memorials may be made to Village Hospice of Lee’s Summit or Lutheran Good Shepard Home of Concordia.
Born Oct. 5, 1955, in Lexington, he was the son of Hubert and Eunice Wilkens, of Concordia. He graduated from Concordia High School in 1974. He went on to earn a Bachelors of Science degree from Central Missouri State University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Kansas. He worked as a social worker at Truman Medical Center Hospital, and most recently for Missouri State Parks. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing.
Kurt is survived by his mother, Eunice Wilkens of Concordia; a sister, Nancy Wilkens of Lone Jack; twos sons, Kyle (Maggie) Wilkens of Corder, and Erik (Brooke) Wilkens of Concordia; five grandchildren, John, Maddie, Ike, Emily and Jacob; and several aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert.
