Vernon E.C. Lueck, 89, of Alma, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia, where he had been a resident for the last 4 Ĺ years.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma with the Rev. Timothy Miille officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School, the Parkinsonís Foundation, or family choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born Dec. 28, 1929, in Ernestville, he was the son of the late Norbert Lueck and Amalia Oetting Lueck. On Feb. 6, 1949, he married Frances Ruth Fischer, who preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2006. Vernon farmed in the Blackburn and Alma areas nearly all of his life, and served on the Santa Fe Board of Education from 1969 to 1978. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Menís Club, an elder, and served on various boards.

He is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Darinda and Richard Ferguson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Debra and Eric Justin of Kansas City, Mo., and Kathy and Neal Bredehoeft of Alma; six grandchildren: Amie Bowman and husband Mark, Edward Ferguson and wife Kathryn, Lorie Kreisel, Lacey Bredehoeft-Fiene and husband Ross, Colin Justin, and Nick Justin; nine great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Jeri Steffens; one brother, Harold Lueck; along with several nieces and nephews.
