John Henry Deatherage
John Henry Deatherage, 56, a lifelong resident of Concordia, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with Rev. Cliff Caton officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Pallbearers will be Shawn Meyer, Tad Deatherage, Ryan Deatherage, Mike McKinley, Nathan Hemme and Ben Hemme. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born Oct., 3, 1962, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late James Reed Deatherage and Ruth Eleen Bredehoeft Deatherage, who survives of Concordia. He attended Concordia High School and had served in the U.S. Army. He worked on the pipeline as a surveyor and was a member of Operators Union Local 101. He owned a machine shop in Concordia and also worked at The Palace and Debbie Lynnís in Concordia. He was a member of Concordia Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Ruth, of Concordia, John is survived by one brother, Alan Deatherage and wife Nancy of Concordia; two sisters, Mrs. Dennis L. (Patricia) Meyer of Emma and Mrs. Cliff (Donna) Caton of Napoleon; a sister-in-law, Donna Deatherage of Blue Springs; four stepbrothers, Tony Deatherage and wife Tammy of Concordia, Troy Deatherage of Belton, Trent Deatherage of Pleasant Hill and Randall Harp and wife Rosa of Naples, Fla.; a stepsister, Mrs. Jeff (Tina) Behel of Georgia; his close friend, Judy Latty, and her daughter, Sarah, of Concordia; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father on July 15, 1976; two brothers, Michael Reed Deatherage on Dec. 12, 1976 and Dennis Scott Deatherage on Oct. 8, 1984; and his stepfather, Maurice Deatherage on June 5, 2017.
