Vehicle strikes Sweet Springs man in roadway

A Sweet Springs man was struck by a vehicle while standing in the middle of the South Outer Road late Wednesday, Jan. 3. The incident occurred approximately 1,600 feet west of Goose Creek Road, which is west of the Emma exit.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol report stated the crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. when a 1999 Ford driven by Billy Lemmons, 57, of Emma struck a pedestrian as he was standing in the middle of the roadway. The pedestrian identified as Jackie L. Holtcamp, 29, of Sweet Springs reportedly sustained moderate injuries. He was evaluated by emergency personnel at the scene, and refused transportation to the hospital.
