Concordia UMC hosts Cookies and Carols event

The “Warm Tree” was filled after the Concordia United Methodist Church hosted the annual Concordia Interfaith Alliance Cookies and Carols on Dec. 9. The tree holds gloves, mittens, scarves, stocking caps, sweatshirts and other similar items to be donated the Concordia R-2 School District and/or the Sweet Springs Food Pantry. Nonperishable food items were also collected.

Concordia United Methodist Church, as part of the Concordia Interfaith Alliance, hosted a Cookies and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Concordia United Methodist Church.
The event began at 4 p.m. at the church and then participants traveled to the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home for caroling. Following the caroling, participants returned to the church for more singing. Refreshments were served.
A “Warm Tree” was on display where new items such as gloves, mittens, scarves, stocking caps, sweatshirts and other similar items were brought and put on the tree to be donated to the Concordia School District and/or Sweet Springs Food Pantry. Nonperishable food items were also collected.
Over 200 pounds of food were collected and donated to the Sweet Springs Food Pantry by the more than 40 people who attended.
