Chamber approves mission statement, new logo during quarterly meeting
During the quarterly meeting of the Concordia Area Chamber of Commerce, held Jan. 17, 2019, attendees approved a mission statement as well as a new logo.
Two mission statements were presented. The one approved unanimously by the members reads as follows: “To support the needs of member businesses to create and promote the best community in which to live, work and conduct business.”
The new logo is a stylized circle with what appears to be familiar locations from around Concordia rising out of a field of row-crops. The logo will be available in color and in black and white.
Members approved the treasurer’s report, which shows a balance of $19,616.03 after earmarked funds are taken out. The earmarked funds ($30,000) have been set aside for use in designing and building a “Welcome to Concordia” sign at the north entrance to Concordia, just south of Interstate 70.
Members received copies of an Events & Meetings Calendar during the meeting. One of the featured events listed is the sixth annual Piccadilly Auction, scheduled for March 29. The event is co-sponsored by the chamber and Concordia Main Street, and is the biggest fundraiser for the organizations. The event will be held in the Concordia Community Center gymnasium. The Piccadilly Ticket Sales event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, and will be held in Room 203 of the Concordia Community Center.
Other notable items on the calendar include the chamber’s Scholarship Golf Tournament on June 7; the Chili-Soup Supper on Dec. 7; the downtown Trick-or-Treat event on Oct. 31; City-wide Garage Sales on May 4 and Oct. 5; Trunks of Treasures events on March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 1, Aug. 10 and Sept. 14; and the Second Saturday events on the second Saturday of each month.
The chamber’s next quarterly meeting will be held on April 18, with the annual meeting scheduled for July 18.
