Orioles competing in annual Knob Noster Invitational baseball tourney
The Concordia High School Orioles baseball team will be participating in the 2019 Knob Noster Invitational baseball tournament at the Knob Noster Softball/Baseball Complex this week. The complex is located one mile north of Highway 50 off of Highway 23, and there is an admission fee.
Eight teams will participate in this year’s contest: Concordia, Clinton High School, Knob Noster High School, Lone Jack High School, Northwest (Hughesville) High School, Pleasant Hill High School, Ruskin High School and Summit Christian High School. There will be no seventh place game, so technically the tournament will be a two-game guarantee, although six squads will play three times.
First pitch for Thursday’s and Friday’s games are scheduled for 4:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Field No. 1 and Field No. 2. The third place game (losers of Friday’s Field No. 1 games) will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday on Field No. 1, while Field No. 2 will host the consolation bracket championship game between the victors of Friday’s Field No. 2 games, also at 10 a.m. The two remaining 2-0 teams will compete on Field No. 1 at noon on Saturday.
Home team will be the top team listed in the bracket for the first round of games, but coin flip will determine the home team in the ensuing games.
Weather could play a factor, as rain is projected throughout the back-half of the week, so Orioles faithful making the trek to Knob Noster should be prepared for rain — and possibly rain delays, as well.
