Herbert “Junior” Wood Jr., 78, of Climax Springs, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Rev. Michael Pottschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or family choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Born Nov. 18, 1940, in Iconium, he was the son of the late Herbert Wood Sr. and Erma Lee Mulkey Wood. He was a 1959 graduate of Higginsville High School. On Feb. 28, 1981, he married Willa J. Butcher Barber, who survives of the home. He had lived in Climax Springs since 2014, moving from Kansas City, Kan., and was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed boating.

In addition to his wife, Willa, he is survived by three children, Wendy Dittmer (Gerald “Tator”), Liesha Gleason, and Darren Wood (Kathy) all of Concordia; one stepdaughter, Vickie Lee Knight (Ted) of Kansas City, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Wood (Nancy) of Richmond; one sister, Sharon Wood of Higginsville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Lainey McGee; a son-in-law, Stan Heath; and two stepdaughters, Susan Kneller and Terri Vitatoe.
