Ruth Arline Becker
Ruth Arline Becker, 90, lifelong resident of Concordia, Missouri, died Sunday, April 28, 2019, at The Lutheran Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Pastor Michael Pottschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Burial will be in St. Paulís Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Melissa Heath, Ross Meyer, Dana Krause, Kassandra Dumas, Bryan Schuknecht, Megan Morris, Matthew Becker, Kevin Becker, Kelly Rose and Kyle Becker. Ruth was born on July 21, 1928, in Emma, the daughter of the late Otto and Stella (Stuerke) Schelp. She attended Holy Cross Lutheran School and was confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Ruth married Norbert L. Becker on April 24, 1949. They remained married for over 66 years. Together, they managed a dairy farm for more than 50 years and were devoted parents to their five children. In 1999, they moved from the farm to a home in Concordia. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She participated in various church activities, including St. Paulís Ladies Aide #1. Ruth especially enjoyed quilting and made dozens of quilts for her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Becker of Prairie Village, Kan., and Kurt Becker, of Concordia; three daughters, Donna Moyers, Darlene Meyer and Kathy Schuknecht, all of Concordia; three sons-in-law, Stephen Moyers, Greg Meyer and Ray Schuknecht, all of Concordia; one daughter-in-law, Beckie Becker of Concordia; two brothers, Eldred Schelp of Emma and Leland Schelp of Warrensburg; 10 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Lucille Loges and Hildegard Becker, both of Sweet Springs; three brothers, Wilbert Schelp of Emma, Robert Schelp of Union, and Roger Schelp of Ernestville; and one daughter-in-law, Laurie Becker of Prairie Village, Kan.
