Concordia School Board makes personnel decisions

Following a late-night adjournment of the May 9 Concordia Board of Education meeting, the board reconvened at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, to take care of some unfinished business.

After disposing of minutes from the last meeting, approving payments of some bills, and setting dates for the next meetings (June 13 and June 27), the board approved a job description for the Speech Pathologist position, and then adjourned to move into a closed session.

During the closed session, the board accepted the resignation of Lucas Lewis from his position of high school principal effective the end of the 2018-19 school year.

A motion was then made, and approved unanimously, to employ the positions for extra duty for the 2019-2020 school year, with the exception of the varsity volleyball coach. A motion was made and approved to employ Leslie Basye as varsity volleyball coach for the 2019-2020 school year.

The board also approved the employment of the following support staff for the 2019-2020 school year:
Custodians: Peter Larkin, Elva Snider and Renee Kearney.
Cooks: Theresa Collner, Kimberly Roepe and Jamie Roepe.
Paraprofessionals: Janis Bredehoeft, Hailee Brown (PAT), Cindy Gieselman, Courtney Reynolds, Nichole Shahan, Misty Wycoff and Ann Zumbrunnen.
Nurse: Faye Fritsche.
Secretaries: Debra Johnson, Carie Nelson and Jackie Paterson.
District Secretary/Bookkeeper: Stefany Lovercamp.
Full-time Substitute: Susie Vandevender.

Summer school staff was approved as follows at the indicated rates of pay:
Angie Beerman, Ann Beissenherz, Brianne Bredehoeft, Alyson Brizendine, Janice Edwards, Karen Hemme, Staci Hon, Tara Looney and Natasha Ohmart, all at $1,200; Nathan Beissenherz at $600; and Cindy Gieselman and Ann Zumbrunnen as paraprofessionals.

Employment of the following certified staff was also approved by the board: Wendy Utterback-elementary art teacher, Katlin Murray-English Learner and Spanish teacher, and Kimberly Mathews-elementary teacher.
