Hot Shots win barnburner over Higginsville Team Gray

The CFM Hot Shots Minors softball team was able to hold off a late comeback attempt by Higginsville Team Gray, picking up the game-winning run in the fourth and final inning to win 17-16.

Down 16-15 in the bottom of the fourth inning, two singles and three one-out walks pushed the Hot Shots across the finish line with the victory.

Taylor Gard went 3-3 with three singles. She and Karli Kirchhoff each stroked two RBIs. Abi Hartwig’s double was one of the team’s six hits, while they also drew 18 walks as a team.

Aubrey Roepe did the majority of the work from the pitcher’s circle, allowing six runs over two innings and struck out five. She also allowed one hit.

The Hot Shots are back to their winning ways, moving to 6-2-1 with the victory.
