Ruth Fuqua, 80, of Emma, Missouri, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Aug.12, 2019, at St. John United Church of Christ, in Emma, with Pastor Tim Biesemeyer and William W. Harlow officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Sweet Springs Food Pantry or Sweet Springs Senior Center in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born July 25, 1939 in Emma, she was the daughter of the late Amos Steinkuehler and Adelia “Della” Meyer Steinkuehler. Ruth lived in Emma most of her life and was a graduate of Alma High School. On March 16, 2002, she married Ernest “Dome” Fuqua, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2010. Ruth worked as a cook at The Lutheran Good Shepherd Home and then as a dietician at I-70 Community Hospital. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and Friends of the Sweet Springs Library.
Survivors include three children: Brenda Boyd of Sturgeon, and Sandy Gautreaux and Bobby Holtsclaw, both of the home; four grandchildren: Jay Johnson, Alex Boyd, Nic Boyd and Adam Emde; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Rothenhoefer and Nila Ingram; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bethany Eubanks; one brother, Russell Steinkuehler; one sister, Delzine Trautman; and a sister in infancy.
