Boys and Girls State participants share their experiences
Participants of the 2019 Boys and Girls State events, held in June at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, shared their experiences during an Aug. 13 meeting of American Legion Post No. 258 and the American Legion Post No. 258 Auxiliary.
Boys and Girls State are annual pure democracy programs where participants are citizens who are able to vote and are eligible to hold office. The programs are designed to educate and train Missouriís young leaders in functional citizenship, leadership and government. Each year, nearly 1,000 student leaders gather to build an entire state government in a single week.
Students who are juniors during the 2019-2020 academic school year, and are interested in participating in one of the programs, should contact their high school counselor.
