June Smith, 82, of rural Concordia, Missouri, formerly of Emma, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born June 18, 1937 in Viola, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Anthon Foster and Effie McCandliss Foster. June was raised in the Viola area and was a 1955 graduate of Viola High School. On Aug. 16, 1958, she married Billy Ray Smith, who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2017. June’s life centered around her family, as well as being the bookkeeper for the family business.
Survivors include three children: Gina Horman (Randy) of rural Concordia, Cynthia Smith of Grain Valley, and Anthony Smith of rural Concordia; eight grandchildren: Kelsey Merrick (Ben), Haley Fowler (Todd Garst), Alyssa Brandt (Steve), Kaylynn Cicchetti (Colin), Kellie Berry (Boone), Anthon Smith, Austin Smith (Mindy), and Ashlynn Smith; 10 great-grandchildren: McKenna Meyer (Austin), Bryce Merrick, Breanna Merrick, Bryer Fowler, Kye Fowler, Hagen Brandt, Rylee Brandt, Callahan Brandt, Oliver Cicchetti, and Grant Garst; one brother, Guindal Foster of Avery; one sister, Allie Brotherton of Kansas City, Kan.; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Lorene Talley, Wilma McLain, and Ella Marino; and two brothers, Clifford and Loyal Foster.
