Concordia Area Chamber of Commerce gathers for quarterly meeting

During the quarterly meeting of the Concordia Area Chamber of Commerce, chamber members enjoyed a lunch of fried chicken with all the trimmings at New Life Church in Concordia.

Norman Lucas, Executive Director of Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission, distributed copies of the PTRPC 2018 Annual Report. The report shows revenues for Fiscal Year 2018 totaling $494,161.09, while expenses for the same time period were noted at $383,837.13. The top three expenditures recorded included: Salaries and Benefits totaling $271,008.73; Equipment Contracts/Maintenance at $30,252.65; and Employee Travel at $15,984.81. Projected Revenue for Fiscal Year 2019 totaled $345,235.58, with projected expenses coming in at $326,107.

Chamber treasurer Cindy Stuenkel presented the treasurer’s report, which showed Operating Funds on hand as of Sept. 30, totaling $57,873.70. After monies earmarked for the annual Piccadilly event ($13,853) and for a Chamber sponsored monument ($30,000) were deducted, the total operating funds on hand totaled $14,020.70.

Members heard about a chamber Chili/Soup Supper, scheduled for Dec. 7, which will include prize giveaway’s from local businesses and other entertainment. A free-will donation will be accepted for the supper.

Other activities discussed included:
—Oct. 31—Trick-or-Treat on Main Street from 4-6 p.m.
—Nov. 9—Second Saturday activities.
—Nov. 23—Concordia Main Street Christmas.
—Nov. 30—Shop Small (Small Business Saturday): Small Business Saturday is a day devoted to supporting small businesses and communities across the country.
—Dec. 7—Chamber Chili/Soup Supper.
—Dec. 14—Kids Christmas Shopping Day, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Concordia Community Center. Children will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Santa.
