Several Concordia High School students participated in the West Central District Honor Choirs, held Saturday, Oct. 12, at Oak Grove High School.

Ninth- and tenth-grade students who participated were Bailey Reynolds (soprano), Holly Brown (alto), Alex Prindle (tenor) and Ryder Wilckens (bass). These students were selected by CHS vocal music instructor Alisa Brown because of their leadership and talent in the high school choir. Reynolds was chosen by the guest conductor, to be a soloist at Saturday’s performance.

Eleventh- and 12th-grade students tried out for a position in either the 11th/12th grade Women’s Honor Choir or the 11th/12th grade All-District Choir. Their tryout consisted of sight singing, key signature identification, and solo singing in a blind audition for a panel of judges. Savannah McGinnis (soprano) was selected to participate in the Women’s Choir and Seth Heimsoth (bass) was selected to participate in the All-District Choir.

In addition, Heimsoth auditioned for another panel of judges on Saturday and was selected for the All-State Choir. Being selected to sing in the Missouri All-State Choir is a true honor for any high school musician. It is the highest honor one can receive during their high school musical career. Heimsoth was one of six basses selected to represent the West Central District. A total of 56 basses auditioned for the slots.
