A date with the sixth-seeded Northwest (Hughesville) High School Lady Mustangs was a nice warm-up for the Concordia High School Orioles volleyball team in the first round of the Class 1 District 13 tournament, sweeping sets in blowout fashion.
The Orioles had little resistance in collecting aces, earning the 14-5 advantage in the category behind sophomore Landry Yount’s five and contributions from fellow sophomores Cate Cooper (four) and Kaleigh Benson (three).
Cooper finished with team-highs in blocks (two) and kills, with 10.
Yount’s 12 assists were good for all but three of the team’s assists.
