Colette D. Swan, 82, of Concordia, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at University Nursing and Rehab in Edwardsville, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Ernestville, with the Rev. Benjamin Tyler Holt officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or Orphan Grain Train in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Born March 5, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Joseph Fabian and Mary Colette Burger Fabian. On June 11, 1956, she married the Rev. Melvin F. Swan, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2015. She was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area where she was a graduate of Brentwood High School. She received a degree in nursing at State Fair Community College and was a retired registered nurse. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, St. Matthew’s choir, Ladies Aid and LWML.
Survivors include six children, James A. Swan of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Judith A. Wagner (Larry) of Defiance, Ohio, John A. Swan of Houston, Texas, Janet A. Volkmer (William) of Tulsa, Okla., Jeffrey A. Swan of Mission, Kan., and Jean A. Marciak (Brian) of Collinsville, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five siblings, Clarence J. Fabian Jr. (Irene) of Natchitoches, La., Carole Ciak (Richard) of Hartstown, Pa., Claudy Solderberg (Bruce) of Laconte, Fla., Christine Jones of Bossier City, La., and Christopher Fabian (Sharon) of South Gulf Cove, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Colette was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother-in-law, Frank Jones.
