Sharon K. Swopes
Sharon K. Swopes, 76, of rural LaMonte, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with Pastor Alan Mueller officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Born Oct. 27, 1943, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Orville Edgar Lear and Glennis Everts Lear. She lived in the Sweet Springs and LaMonte area most of her life and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Concordia High School and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. On Dec. 1, 1962, she married Charles L. Swopes, who survives of the home. She loved being with her family, reading, planting flowers and horseback riding.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; two children, Guy Swopes and Lee Swopes (Jessica) of rural LaMonte; five grandchildren, Nicole Wilhite (Zac), Allison Gilmore (Andy), Morgan Mannix (Charlie), Devin Swopes and Jennica Swopes; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Wilhite and Theodore Mannix; one brother, Edgar Lear (Kathryn) of Knob Noster; and one nephew, Anthony Lear.
