Concordia School Board votes to fill several personnel positions
At the Aug. 8 Concordia Board of Education meeting, the board discussed several matters before going into closed session to make personnel decisions.
The board approved several handbooks for the coming school year, including the High School Staff, Student and Substitute handbooks, as well as the Elementary Staff and Substitute handbooks.
A slate of substitute teachers for the 2019-2020 school year was approved during the regular session. The list is contingent on FBI/Highway Patrol background checks and DESE Certification. The certified substitutes approved include: Melinda Beydler, Lois Brandt, Ellie Brunkhorst, Tiffany Cornwell, LaCrissa Garrison, Crystal Inman, Gail Langkrahr, Rebecca Lemmert, Stacey Leonard, Michelle Long, Josh Payne, Connie Pollard, Karen Schroeder, Monica Smith and David Tagtmeyer. Non-certified substitutes approved include: John Daugherty, Betty Faris, Vicki Hemme, Wanda Hemme and Debbie Johnson.
Several board policies were approved unanimously by the board, including Policy 2871 concerning Medical Marijuana, Policy 4870 concerning a Drug Free Workplace, and Policy 5550, the Food Service Program.
In other actions, the board:
—approved a motion to employ Rhonda Smith to provide Occupational Therapy for the 2019-20 school year at $61 per hour.
—approved a motion to employ Kathy Cooper to provide Physical Therapy for the 2019-20 school year at $61 per hour.
—approved a motion to enter into a contract services agreement with Support Source for the district’s MOSIS reports in the amount of $7,000.
The board then adjourned to regular closed executive session to discuss personnel issues. Decisions approved during the executive session included:
—approval of Amanda Paul as Process Coordinator for the 2019-20 school year.
—approval of Ember Johnson as elementary school special education paraprofessional for the 2019-20 school year, after all background checks have been completed and approved.
—approval of Katlin Murray as Sophomore Sponsor for the 2019-20 school year.
—employment of Leslie Basye as Senior High School Sponsor for the 2019-20 school year.
